The Shakers will be looking to continue our recent free-scoring form against Workington in the FA Cup this weekend, having scored twenty goals and conceded only one in our last four games.
Our last cup outing saw Anthony Johnson’s men dispatch Wythenshawe 8-0 courtesy a Kai Evans hat trick.
Our opponents beat Marske United 3-0 to reach the second round of the cup, and sit only two places behind Bury in the league table having won their last five games.
This is the third of five consecutive games at Gigg Lane, where The Shakers have been taking full home advantage so far this campaign, having lost only one at home.
In Opposition – Workington
Workington began with a turbulent history, being founded in 1890, disbanded in 1910, and reformed in 1921 after a ten year break.
In 1951, the team made their debut in the Football League away to Halifax Town.
Six years later, in the 1957/58 season, Workington welcomed Manchester United’s Busby Babes side featuring the likes of Harry Gregg, Bobby Charlton and Duncan Edwards, who lost his life days later in the Munich Air Disaster.
Workington were also famously managed by legendary Liverpool manager Bill Shankly in the 1950s.
